What is it?
Music in Healing was created to experience the power of music to help us heal
our bodies, minds, and spirits. The program is a concert/workshop, one to
two hours long, presented in your community.
Who is it for?
The program is designed for people in need of healing. This includes support
groups, community groups, churches, or health care providers. The program
is of special interest to those who are grieving, in recovery, or dealing
with chronic illness. The program is especially valuable for caregivers in
hospitals, hospice, or home care.
What is the content of the program?
The program presents live music, tells stories about the power of music in
peoples lives, and explores the latest research on music and healing.
Performing artist and lecturer Bill Connet, is the workshop leader.
Who sponsors this program?
The program is designed by Bill Connet, in consultation with physicians, minister,
and music therapists. It is funded in part by a grant from the Iowa Arts Council.
How much does it cost?
Depending on the form of the presentation, cost is from $250 to $1500 plus
travel expenses. Grant money can be used to subsidize local sponsoring groups
that cannot fully fund the program.
